Employee of the Quarter

Lee Redfern, Certified Master Mechanic.

Lee is in his second year with Bicycle South, but he has years of experience as a skilled bicycle mechanic. He started in his step-Dad's store (the old Challenge Schwinn) at age 15 and has accumulated 23 years of "working on bikes". He decided to make a career - and lifestyle - as a bicycle mechanic back in 1996 and Bicycle South is proud to have him as a part of our staff!

Lee collects vintage bicycles and parts and favors older American models from the 1960's. He typically maintains a fleet of "around 12" at any one time. He knows his parts - and bicycle history. He's a 4th generation native of Atlanta and really knows the back roads! Lee's also a family guy, married, and has a 4 year old daughter, Matilda.

He is a USCF Certified Race Mechanic since 2000 as well as a Shimano Certified Wheel Builder. Lee has served as the USA Cycling SE Regional Team Mechanic for the Tour de L'Abiti (Canada) since 2000. This tour is the second largest Junior (17-18 year olds) stage race in the world - second only to the World Championships. He has extensive hands-on experience with brands such as Calfee, Guru, Kyota, Kestrel, and other race specific frames and components.

Bicycle South is pleased to have Lee on our staff and appreciate the fact that he asked to work with us. Give him a call; your bicycle will be in excellent hands!
