What Kind of Bicycle Do I Need?

Well, clearly one that fits and you like, but that's kind of beside the point. We will assume that you like the bike you get from Bicycle South, and also that we fit you correctly, and your bicycle is comfortable. However, there are a lot of different kinds of bicycles out there these days, and maybe we can demystify this whole process of selecting the right bicycle, before you come in.

The first thing to consider is, what are you planning on doing with your new bicycle?

Here Are Possible Bicycle Applications:
Serious fitness and distance riding
Easy fitness and fresh air
Commuting to work or school
Running errands
Getting a workout for the kids (AKA, family cycling)
Putting your social life on two wheels
Racing on the road, like triathlons
Mountain biking
Having your own personal transportation for land, while on your sailboat - or your private plane!
Adventure Racing
Just having fun!

And there are many, many, more. As many applications for cycling as there are possible riders. See, cycling is an activity that is easy on the body. Exercise physiologists tell us that cycling is a low impact exercise, easy on the joints, as well as an aerobic exercise that also helps to improve or maintain flexibility. So we see cyclists age 2 to 86 years old. Clearly, if you have an existing medical condition, talk to your doctor before taking up a new activity.

Please read and enjoy this guide, remember though, you are always welcome to call or come by if you have additional questions. We want you to have the perfect bike for you - so let us know if you need more information!
