Great Places to Ride With Kids
We're
starting small on this section. In the fall of 2006 we will focus
on updating this page so it provides good resources for places to
ride with children. Make sure you visit our Riding Tips section
as it provides lots of tips on making your outings successful -
and fun! The local PATH organization has created many trails in
the Atlanta area; the most "famous" is the Silver
Comet Trail that runs from Smyrna to the Alabama
border. It is laid out along an abandoned railroad line and is one
of the nicest trails in the Southeast, if not the nation!
PATH has also created the Stone Mountain
Trail, Arabia Mountain Trail, Chastain Trail, and others. However,
not all of these trails are off-road. Yet there are some great sections
that are off-road and they make fine nearby places to go for a family
outing or a picnic. Your best bet is to stop by Bicycle South and
purchase one of PATH's great trail map booklets ($5.00). The contain
all the information you need about distances, refreshments, places
to park, etc. Visit PATH
for more details.
